CURRICULUM AND PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT

AI in Healthcare: Planning for Implementation microcredential

Mayo Clinic

I developed the course "Leveraging AI for Healthcare Excellence: Essentials for Leaders" in response to a need for Mayo Clinic leaders and aspiring leaders to learn how AI is transforming clinical practice and business operations in healthcare, how to leverage AI resources at Mayo Clinic, and how to support on-going AI innovation to accelerate Mayo Clinic's AI journey. After successfully completing the course, learners earn the AI in Healthcare: Planning for Implementation microcredential. I also serve as course director/faculty for this course.

B.S. in Health Sciences

Northwestern University School of Professional Studies, Undergraduate Program

In 2021 I was appointed as the founding Faculty Director for the new online B.S. in Health Sciences program slated to launch in the Fall of 2024. In collaboration with the assistant dean and program manager, I have built out the curriculum, recruited and hired faculty, and have been overseeing the development of 8 new core courses and 4 new concentration courses. This is one of the first entirely online Bachelor's degree programs at the university.

We officially launched the program in Fall 2024 with our initial cohort of students and are welcoming new students every quarter through our rolling admissions process.

Advanced Studies in Biology for the Health Professions Certificate

Northwestern University School of Professional Studies, Post-Baccalaureate Programs

From my experience working with pre-med and pre-health students, I identified a need for an additional certificate in the SPS portfolio of offerings. I developed this certificate for SPS to meet the needs of students who wanted to take additional advanced-level biology coursework in preparation for medical and other health professions graduate programs.

Health, Science, & Society Certificate

Northwestern University School of Professional Studies, Post-Baccalaureate Programs

From my work with pre-medical students and as program manager, I saw a demand in student interest in social science and humanities coursework to prepare for the new MCAT. I also saw an increase in the number of students who were interested in pursuing an MPH or MHA, but needed additional course preparation. These observations, coupled with medical schools placing an increased importance on competencies in these domains for entering students led me to propose and develop the Health, Science, and Society post-baccalaureate certificate.

Premedicine Completion Program

Northwestern University School of Professional Studies, Professional Health Careers Post-Baccalaureate Programs

While serving as program manager, I identified a gap in the market that we would be able to fill. Students who had previously taken some of the pre-medical core science courses weren't eligible for the existing career-changing post-baccalaureate pre-medical program. However, there were often strong students who had taken some, but not all of the pre-medical requirements and were looking to compete their core courses. I developed this program and worked with the registrar, financial aid, and admissions to launch the program in the summer of 2016. The program has become highly sought-after for strong students who need to complete their pre-medical coursework prior to applying to medical school.

Math for Data Science Certificate

Northwestern University School of Professional Studies, Post-Baccalaureate Programs

As program manager, I proposed and developed a post-baccalaureate certificate for students to expand their quantitative skills for data analysis and data science to advance their careers or to prepare for graduate programs.
